SAHIH al-BUKHARI : THE AUTHENTIC HADITHS OF BUKHARI [ 4 VOLUME SET ]
al-Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari ENGLISH TRANSL. WITH ARABIC TEXT
Hardback - over 3000 pages in total Published in Beirut [Vol 1 - pages] [Vol 2 - pages] [Vol 3 - pages] [Vol 4 - pages]

The authentic collection (Arabic: الجامع الصحيح, al-Jaami al-Musnud al-Sahih or popularly al-Bukhari's authentic (Arabic: صحيح البخاري, Sahih al-Bukhari) is one of the six major hadith collections. (Hadith are oral traditions recounting events in the lives of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). Muslims view this as their most trusted collection of hadith and it has been called "The most authentic book after the Noble Qur'an.
These prophetic traditions were collected by the Muslim scholar al-Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari May Allah be pleased with him [810/870] and published during his lifetime. He was a scholar from from the region of Bukhara, hence the name by which he is known. Al-Bukhari belonged to the Shafi'i School. He traveled widely throughout the Abbasid empire for sixteen years, collecting those traditions he thought trustworthy. It is said that al-Bukhari collected over 300,000 hadith and transmitted only the 2,602 traditions that he believed to be Sahih.
The book covers almost all aspects of life in providing proper guidance of Islam such as the method of performing prayers and other actions of worship directly from Prophet Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). This work of many years by Imam Bukhari May Allah be pleased with him, who before writing any Hadith in his book performed ablution and two units of prayer asking guidance from Allah Almighty. Then he would do the necessary research and investigation, observing if the particular Hadith fits in to his strict criteria of authenticity and if he is sure that the Hadith is authentic, he wrote it in the book.

SAHIH MUSLIM : THE AUTHENTIC HADITHS OF MUSLIM [ 4 VOLUME SET ]
al-Imam Muslim Bin al-Hajaj al-Naysaburi ENGLISH TRANSL. WITH ARABIC TEXT
Hardback - 3249 Total pages Published in Beirut [Vol 1 - 829 pages] [Vol 2 - 823 pages] [Vol 3 - 735 pages] [Vol 4 - 862 pages]

Out of the six recognised authoritative Works of Hadith, the Two believed to be the Most authentic, namely the Sahih al-Bukhari and the Sahih Muslim.
Imam Muslim is Abu'l-Husain 'Asakir-ud-Din Muslim b. Hajjaj al-Qushayri al-Naisaburi May Allah be pleased with him. "Muslim," as his nasba shows, belonged to the Qushayr tribe of the Arabs, an offshoot of the great clan of Rabi'a. He was born in Naysabur (Nishapur) in 202/817h or 206/821h.
He wrote many books and treatises on Hadith, but the most important of his works is the collection (Jami’) of his Sahih. Some of the commentators of Ahadith are of the opinion that in certain respects it is the best and most authentic work on the subject. Imam Muslim took great pains in collecting 300,000 Traditions, and then after a thorough examination of them retained only 4000, the genuineness of which is fully established
His Methods of Classification and Annotation - Muslim's Sahih comes next to Sahih Bukhari. However, in certain respects Muslim is considered superior. Imam Muslim strictly observed many principles of the science of Hadith which had been slightly ignored by his great teacher Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on both of them). Imam Muslim considered only such traditions to be genuine and authentic as had been transmitted to him by an unbroken chain of reliable authorities and were in perfect harmony with what had, (been related by other narrators whose trustworthiness was unanimously accepted and who were free from all defects.
Moreover, Imam Bukhari, while describing the chain of narrators, sometimes mentions their kunya and sometimes gives their names. This is particularly true in case of the narrators of Syria. This creates a sort of confusion, which Imam Muslim has avoided.
Imam Muslim takes particular care in according the exact words of the narrators and points out even the minutest difference in the wording of their reports. Imam Muslim has also constantly kept in view the difference between the two well-known modes of narration, haddathana (he narrated to us) and akhbarana (he informed us). He is of the opinion that the first mode is used only when the teacher is narrating the hadith and the student is listening to it, while the second mode of expression implies that the student is reading the hadith before the teacher. This reflects his utmost care in the transmission of a hadith.
Imam Muslim has taken great pains in connecting the chain of narrators. He has recorded only that hadith which, at least, two reliable tabi'in (successors) had heard from two Companions and this principle is observed throughout the subsequent chain of narrators.

After numerous collections of Hadith had been made during the third century of Islam six works became recognised as authoritative. Two of them are believed to be completely authentic, namely the Sahih al-Bukhari and the Sahih Muslim.
The other four known as the Sunan Sahih al-Tirmidhi, Sunan Ibn Majah, Sunan Abu Dawud, and Sunan Nasa'i are also highly esteemed but it is regarded lower in category to Sahih Bukhari and Muslim.

Among them we find such a distinguished person as Abu Abdur Rahman Ahmad bin Shu'aib an Nasai'i. His book Sunan occupies an outstanding place among six principal Hadith collections (Sihah Sittah) known in the Muslim world.

Imam Nasa'i was very careful while selecting materials for his work. This is why many scholars consider that the book Sunan Nasa'i occupies third place in Hadith collections after Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. It contains 5764 tradition, said to have been carefully collected out of 500,000.'

Sunan Abu Dawud : [ 5 VOLUME SET ]
al-Imam ENGLISH TRANSL. WITH FULL ARABIC TEXT
Hardback - over 3000 pages in total Published in Beirut [Vol 1 - pages] [Vol 2 - pages] [Vol 3 - pages] [Vol 4 - pages] [Vol 5 -pages]

One of the six most authentic collections of the Ahadith (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sahih al-Tirmidhi, Sunan Ibn Majah, Sunan Abu Dawud, and Sahih al-Nisa'i)
It has 4800 Hadith (selected from a mass of 50,000) divided into many different subjects, each Section containing many Hadith. The numbering system used by Abu-Dawud is consecutive and uninterrupted for the entire collection
Abu Dawood, Sulaiman bin Al-Ash’ath bin Ishaq Al-Azdi As-Sijistani, May Allah be pleased with him, who was one of the eminent Imam of Hadith, was born in 202H. He studied Hadith under Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, May Allah be pleased with him, along with Al-Bukhari and taught many of the later scholars of Hadith, like At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa’ee, Radi Allahu ta'ala anhum.
Imam Abu-Dawud lived a couple of centuries after the Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam's demise and worked extremely hard to collect his ahadith. Each report in his collection was checked for compatibility with the Qur'an, and the veracity of the chain of reporters had to be painstakingly established. Abu-Dawud's collection is recognised by the overwhelming majority of the Muslim world to be one of the most authentic collections of the Sunnah of the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, however it is also known to contain some weak ahadith (some of which he pointed out, others which he did not).
Though Abu Dawood collected 50,000 Hadith, he compiled 4,800 Hadith only in his book entitled As-Sunan, which he taught in Baghdad and other major cities at that time. He died at Basra on Friday in the month of Shawwal 275 H. Sunan Abu Dawood has been translated to English.
He was one of the most widely travelled of the scholars of ahadith, going to Hijaz (Saudi Arabia), Iraq, Khurashan, Egypt, Syria, Nishapur, Marv, and other places for the sole purpose of collecting ahadith. His primary interest was in law, hence his collection focuses purely on legal ahadith. From about 50,000 ahadith, he chose 4,800 for inclusion in his work based on their superior authenticity.
