About the Author of Holy Cities:

Each extension resulted in the demolition of the Hujrat of Umm-ul-Momineen and the humble dwellings of the Sahaba (Noble Companions of the Beloved Prophet of Allah).

Consequently an entire chapter is devoted to the Hujrat and the houses of the Noble Sahaba i-kiram, around the original mosque from the time of the Beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be with him). This chapter is very informative on the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be with him), Mothers of the Believers, Umm-ul-Momineen and numerous Sahaba; it sheds light on the early years of Islam.

The last chapter describes the 26 mosques (in and around Madinah) where the Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be with him) and his Noble Companions offered prayers. Notable among these are, Masjid al-Quba (the first mosque) and Masjid al-Qiblatain (where the direction of qibla changed from Bait-ul-Muqaddas to Ka’bah). The book also describes some of the historic wells, valleys, mountains and sites of the historic battles. There is a brief mention of a few Islamic institutes of Madinah Munawwarah and development schemes.

Both the books are not purely historical (as their names may suggest). The books shed light on the various aspects of the two holy cities, with references to the Qur’an, Ahadith. It is essential for everyone to know the most important historical events that have direct effect on the establishment and sacredness of Makkah and Madinah, as well as their religious weight. In 1938, as a young man in his late 20s, he embraced Islam, entering deeply into its spirit; and the books he went on to write bear witness to the profundity and the subtlety of that spirit which he came to embody and exemplify.

In 1948 he performed the Hajj or pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah. Using unique archive material, this documentary film recollects his experience along with his insight into its historical background.

The Virtues of th e Ka’ba - Countless Mercies

The vision of this sacred and blessed house does not just bring content and joy to the heart and provide nourishment to the soul but is in fact the light of imaan; the source of nearness to Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, and an important means of forgiveness and salvation. Abu Hurayra narrates that the Prophet, Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam, said:

‘Whoever saw the Ka’ba and then, without quarrelling, bad mouthing or fighting, he (returns home) like (the day) his mother gave birth to him.’ (Muslim)

2) One hundred and twenty mercies Abdullah bin Abbas narrates that the Prophet, Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam, said:

‘In one day and night Allah, sends down 120 mercies upon the Ka’ba; sixty for those performing tawaaf, forty for those offering Salah and twenty for those looking at it.’ (Akhbaar ...)
