For Christ's Sake (Revised Edition)        by Ahmad Thomson & Muhammad 'Ata 'Ur-Rahim

Paperback - 166 pages

For Christs Sake is the first of two books - the second of the two books being entitled Islam in Andalus - which constitute the revised edition of Blood on the Cross which was originally written between 1977 and 1979 and first published in 1989.

The main purpose of both the original and revised edition has been to explore the history of that extraordinary period during which the Muslims first flourished and then perished in the Iberian peninsula - which used to be called
Andalus. This work deals principally with the history of Christianity in Europe, with particular reference to Spain, tracing the movement of the original Unitarian followers of Jesus (Isa ('alayhis salam)), from North Africa and the Middle East up into Europe and Spain.

It goes on to describe the formation and expansion of the Trinitarian Church in Italy and the rest of Europe and outlines the almost total annihilation of the Unitarian Christians at the hands of the Trinitarian Church by means of the Medieval Inquisition. This is useful in understanding how Islam was able to spread so readily and rapidly in Andalus.

ISLAM IN ANDALUS                       by Ahmad Thomson & Muhammad 'Ata 'Ur-Rahim

 Paperback - 296 pages

This book is the natural follow-on to 'For Christ’s Sake' - which deals principally with the history of Christianity in Europe.

The main purpose of Islam in Andalus has been to explore the history of that extraordinary period during which the Muslims first flourished and then perished in the Iberian Peninsula - which used to be called Andalus but which now compromises Spain and Portugal. It was largely due to the Muslims' presence and illumination there that the Dark Ages in Europe came to an end, and the Muslim influence remains with us today in a thousand ways.

What took place in the Iberian Peninsula during the period between 711 and 1609 is fascinating. It witnessed great illumination and tremendous darkness. It was characterised by immense wisdom and profound ignorance. One of the meanings of Andalus in Arabic is 'to become so smooth and shiny with age that it slips through your fingers' and this is the story of what happened there not once but many times.

The Muslim Conquest of Spain and the Legacy of Al-Andalus

Paperback - 128 pages                                                                            by Shahnaz Husain

This easy-to-read book narrates the story of how Muslims were invited to the Iberian peninsula - the region that covers modern Spain and Portugal - to help different Christian kingdoms at loggerheads with each other over the sovereignty of their country. It covers the history of the initial foundations of Al-Andalus - the name given to Islamic Spain - through to the departure of the men who had taken the initiative to conquer the country.

Nearly eight hundred years of Muslim rule has left a cultural legacy of gigantic proportions that remains to this day on the Iberian Peninsula.

The dynamic nature of the territorial expansion further into Europe, undertaken by subsequent Muslim leaders, is also considered. This proves to be a fascinating story that will captivate readers, teenagers and adults alike, while giving an insight into a remarkable period of Islamic history.
