Sadr al-Ulema was a student of Sadr al-Afaazil Sayyad Naim al-Din Muradabadi, of Sadrus Shari'ah, Allama Amjad Ali Aazmi Allah be pleased with them, his dastar-e-fazilat was performed by Hujjatul Islam Hamid Raza Khan Allah be pleased with him who was also another one of his teachers. Sadr al-Ulema was bayt (disciple) of AlaHadrat 'Ashrafi miya' Sayyad Shah Ali Hussain Rahmatullahi 'alayhi.  

This book contains a brief biography, and 40 testimonials from the contemporaries, of Sadr al-Ulema, from throughout the Muslim World.

The learned and holy men of Farangi Mahall were the consolidators in India of the rationalist traditions of Islamic scholarship derived from Iran. These were encapsulated in a renowned and widely-used syllabus, which they created and which became the dominant system of Indian Islamic education from the 18th century. By the 20th century these scholarly traditions, which represented a confident and flexible Islamic understanding, which many felt, had the capacity to preserve Islam even while selectively adopting social, cultural and technological changes from the West.

This scholarly work focuses on the establishment in 1809, in what is today Northern Nigeria, of the celebrated Sokoto caliphate, which may well have been the last complete re-establishment, anywhere in the world, of Islam in its entirety, comprising all its many and varied dimensions.

As well as giving the biography of the Shehu and a comprehensive account of the history of his movement, the book also provides an in- depth examination of his teaching and literary works. These factors are all inextricably interwoven since, in a way scarcely equalled by any other historical figure, the Shehu's writings sprang directly out of the exigencies and requirements of his immediate situation and were what drove his movement forward and gave it its momentum. As will be seen, his sole inspiration and source of guidance in every instance were the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam to such a point that he even died at exactly the same age. It is also astonishing how relevant the Shehu's teachings are, in spite of the clear difference in both time and environment, to the situation of so many Muslims in the world today and the solution to many of the problems currently besetting Islam are clearly indicated within its pages.

Islam in Victorian Britain : The Life and Times of Abdullah Quilliam

This is the first full biography of Abdullah Quilliam (1856-1932), the most significant Muslim personality in nineteenth century Britain. Uniquely ennobled as the 'Sheikh of Islam' of the British Isles by the Ottoman caliph, Sultan Abdul Hamid II in 1893, Quilliam, as a charismatic preacher, created a remarkable community of Muslims in Victorian Liverpool, which included a substantial number of converts.

A successful solicitor, Quilliam fought for the rights of the city's poor and, in the high noon of European colonialism, defended the Ottoman caliphate and independent Muslim states through his two international publications, "The Crescent" and "The Islamic World". After 1908, in controversial circumstances, Quilliam left Liverpool and spent the rest of his life living under a pseudonym, but still figured as a major contributor to British Islam in London, where he was involved with the Woking Mosque. Based on exhaustive archival work, Ron Geaves not only provides the first account of Quilliam's colourful and turbulent life, but examines his teachings and considers his legacy for British Muslims today.
