Amongst the scholars who attended and addressed the audience were Shaykh Muhammad Amin al-Hasanat Shah al-Qurashi (Bhera, Pakistan), Shaykh Yusuf Abu Sneina (Imam and Khatib of al-Masjid al-Aqsa, Jerusalem, Palestine), Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada (Jamia Al-Karam, UK), Shaykh Ahmed Tijani Ben Omar (Chicago, USA), Imam Muhammad Shahid Raza Na’eemi (Leicester, UK), Hajj Ahmad Thomson (London, UK) and many others. Nasheeds and Qasidas were performed by Aa'shiq-al-Rasul (Birmingham, UK) and Nizaal Khodabux (Mauritius).

The event featured the launch of Shaykh M I H Pirzada's The Ideal Mother; in light of the Qur’an, Sunna and Tradition and was concluded with a spiritually uplifting dhikr session led by Shaykh Muhammad Amin al-Hasanat Shah al-Qurashi.

The Gateway to Divine Mercy Project is the latest initiative launched by the Al-Karam Scholars Association (AKSA) in partnership with Jamia Al-Karam. It aims to present and promote the true understanding of traditional Islam in today’s atmosphere of gross misinterpretation and tragic misunderstanding. The Muslims face new types of challenges in the present world and the best way to face these challenges is through education and dialogue. The project aspires to involve the youth of today in a productive and beneficial manner so that the true teachings of the faith of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) can flourish in the near and distant future.

The Creator of all, Allah (most high), has stated in the glorious Qur’an, “.. do not despair of the mercy of Allah ..” (Qur’an 39:53). This divine verse provides the premise for positive thinking.Concerning the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Allah (most high) has declared, “And We have not sent you, except as a mercy to all the worlds.” (Qur’an 21:107). Furthermore, Allah (most high) has announced that “.. the mercy of Allah is closer to the good-doers.” (Qur’an 7:56).

As a result of the above divine verses, the project is called Gateway to Divine Mercy for it does not despair of the mercy of Allah (most high), it seeks the love of the true embodiment of divine mercy, the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and it aims to promote righteousness and the doing of good. May Allah (most high) accept these efforts. Amin.

After the remarkable success of the previous two Gateway to Divine Mercy events held in Manchester in June 2006 and July 2007, AKSA in partnership with Jamia Al-Karam coordinated “Gateway to Divine Mercy - Awakening our Souls” which was held on 29th June 2008. It once again proved to be a highly successful and informative event in which shuyukh, imams, scholars and nasheed artists from all over the world participated.
