Riyad al Saliheen (Gardens of the Righteous)                 by Imam an-Nawawi

 Hardback - 856 pages

The renowned 5th Century Hijri hadith compilation by Imam Muhy al-Din Yahya ibn Sharaf Al-Nawawi Radi Allahu anhu.

Edited, annotated, and hadiths verified by Shaykh Shu'ayb al-Arna'ut (Damascus).

The Riyad as-Salihin of Imam Nawawi is a well known and popular collection of hadiths covering various themes. The purpose of the book, in the words of the author, is:

... I felt that I should compile a short collection of authentic hadiths which will be means for the traveller to the hereafter, through which he will acquire internal and external ettiquette, which will combine [hadiths] which create a yearning [for Paradise] and a fear [of Hell], and all other types of ettiquette for those treading the path. These hadiths will have lessons on abstention (zuhd), [spiritual] exercise for the souls, the development of character, the purifications and treatment for the hearts, the protection of the limbs and removing their waywardness, and other objectives of the 'arifin (those who have truly recognised).

 Tafsir al Jalalayn

 Hardback - 635 pages                                                Compiled by al-Mahalli and al-Suyuti

Among the most popular commentaries of the Qur'an, first composed by Imam Jalal al-Din Mahalli and completed by his student 'Allamah Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti May Allah be pleased with them.

This wonderful 2-colour edition also includes Asbab al-Nuzul by Imam al-Suyuti and his treatise Mufhamat al-Aqran fi Mubhamat al-Qur'an.

Tafsir Al-Jalalayn is one of the most significant tafsirs, or commentaries, for the study of the Quran. Composed by two "Jalals"- Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli (d. 1459CE) and Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti (d. 1505CE), Tafsir Al-Jalalayn is generally regarded as one of the most easily accessible works of Quranic exegesis beacause of its simple style and one volume length.

This Qur'anic commentary is one of the most popular Tafasir in the Islamic world, perhaps even THE most popular Tafsir. Copies of it are available in almost every bookshop and library in the Arab and Muslim world. It is by far the shortest and easiest to understand.

Consequently, it is invariably read as an introduction to Classical Tafsirs by millions of students and adults who never go further into the subject. It is thus an immensely successful and influential work not just as the classic introduction to Tafsir, but also as the standard reference work for the language of Qur'an.

Jalalu’d-din Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Mahalli (791-864/1389-1459) of Cairo was a versatile, scholar who excelled in jurisprudence, theology, grammar, rhetoric, and Qur’anic commentary. He was known for his scrupulousness, fear of Allah, and fearlessness in upholding the truth. Al-Mahalli was offered the highest judicial positions but refused them. He taught jurisprudence in the Mu’ayyadiyya and Barquqiyya madrasas. Abstinent and ascetic, he lived on what he earned by trade. His most famous work is his Qur’anic commentary, Tafsir al-Jalalayn, which he began halfway through the text with Surat al-Kahf, ending with an-Nas and al-Fatiha. Although he died before he could start the other half, the work was completed by his student, Jalalu’d-Din as-Suyuti. Al-Mahalli’s other books include commentaries on Jam’ al-Jawami’, al-Burda, al-Manahij fi’l-fiqh, al-Waraqat fi’l-usul, Kitab al Jihad.

Abd al-Rahman ibn Kamal al-Din Abi Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Sabiq al-Din, Jalal al-Din al-Misri al-Suyuti al-Shafi`i al-Ash`ari, also known as Ibn al-Asyuti 849-911AH /1445-1505), the mujtahid imam and renewer of the tenth Islamic century, foremost hadith master, encyclopedist, historian, and biographer and probably one of the most prolific of all Islamic writers. There are an enormous number of his essays and treatises preserved today. A number of his writings concerned scientific topics or issues related to natural science and food and regimen, amongst other things From Asyut in Egypt,he was among the most renowned and prolific Muslim scholars of all time. He wrote more than 300 books, covering every aspect of the Islamic sciences. He memorised the Qur’an at the age of ‘eight, and then went on to study with more than 150 scholars. He travelled extensively in his quest for knowledge — to Damascus, Hijaz, Yemen, India, Morocco, and the lands south of Morocco, as well as in Egypt. Al-Suyuti devoted his life to learning, teaching and writing. He was noble, abstinent and self-sufficient, distancing himself from people of rank and power and living on what he earned by teaching. Major writings of al-Suyuti that remain widely used today include al-Itqan, on the Qur’anic sciences; and Tafsir al-Jalalayn, which he completed when only 22.

The 'Uddat al-Jalis of Ali ibn Bishri - An Anthology of Andalusian Arabic Muwashshahat

Hardback - 576 pages                                                                             Edited by Alan Jones

The 'Uddat al-jalis is an anthology of outstanding literary importance, probably the most valuable work of Arabic poetry to surface in this century.

It contains the largest and best collection of Andalusian Arabic muwashshahat, 354 in all, of which over 280 are not extant in any other major source. Furthermore, no less than 29 of these poems have kharjas that are wholly or partly in Romance. (By comparison, the next most important collection, the Jays al-tawsih of Ibn al-Khatib has 111 unique poems and 16 with 'Romance kharjas'.)

The 'Uddat al-jalis is therefore a key source for those interested in Arabic literature, Romance literature or comparative literature. Three of its kharjas containing Romance, two of its matla's and eleven of its Arabic kharjas are also to be found as kharjas of Hebrew muwassahat, giving it yet another dimension.

  Dala'il al-Khayrat : Guide to Goodness (Arabic & English)
  Paperback - 152 pages
                                                            by Imam al-Jazuli [d.870h]

Complete Arabic - English Texts of this great prayer of Muslims. Written by Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad Ibn Sulayman Ibn Abu Bakr al-Jazuli May Allah be pleased with him.

Dala’il al-Khayrat is unquestionably the most celebrated manual of Blessings on the Beloved Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him Peace) in history. From the time of its authorship in fifteenth-century Fez by the Moroccan Shadhili Shaykh Muhammad al-Jazuli (d. 870/1465), it swept throughout the whole of the Islamic World from North Africa to Indonesia. Countless millions of copies have been in circulation over the centuries with scarcely a well-to-do home in the Muslim heartlands being without one. Princes exchanged magnificent copies of it, commoners treasured it, pilgrims wore it at their side on the way to hajj. It is said in Singapore this was the only Muslim book they had during the Japanese occupation of World War II and they all recited it daily. Their prayers were answered.

It is also said of the Dalail ul-Khayrat: “Millions of Muslims from East to West tried it and found its good, its baraka, and its benefit for centuries and over generations, and witnessed its unbelievable spiritual blessings and light.

Muslims avidly recited it, alone and in groups, in homes and mosques, utterly spending themselves in the Blessings on the Most Beloved and praising him.''

9 VOLUME SET                                      Edited by Dr Majdi Basallum

Imam al Maturidi's May Allah be pleased with him Tawilat al‑Qur'an, is by far one of the most important and valuable of all his works. The Tawil al‑Qur'an is a commentary on the Qur'an in the scholastic method in which he endeavoured to establish the liberal orthodox theology, both traditionally and rationally, and to provide for it a sound basis.

Commenting on this momentous work, Shaykh `Abd al‑Qadir al‑Qarashi Allah be pleased with him says, "A unique book with which no book of the earlier authors on this subject can have any comparison."

Imam Abu Mansur al Maturidi al Hanafi May Allah be pleased with him - In recognition of his scholarship and profound knowledge in theology (and his invaluable services to the cause of Ahl al‑Sunnah w'al Jama'ah) people conferred on him the title of Imam al‑Huda and Imam al‑Mutakallimin.
